How To Balance: A Multi-Passionate Soul

Balance. Harmony. Self-Control. Steadfastness. Stability

Welcome back to the blog you!

I hope you are all filling your summer with endless amounts of fun activities (even if you can only enjoy them on the weekends, like me)! 🙂

With Memorial Day on Monday and clinical’s not starting until next Tuesday June 6, it has been a short week! This last weekend I was able to go home and watch my 2 cousins and sweetest friend graduate from high school, spend some quality time with family, participate in a little glamping, catch up with old friends, and hang by the pool. (it was a GOOD weekend)

My topic’s I write about typically stem from where ever I am at currently in my life or what I am going through.

If you haven’t picked up on my personality or my lifestyle or are new to the blog let me break it down for you… I am a multi-passionate, broke college kid, that loves nature, animals, health AND not so healthy desserts (donuts, ice cream-MY WEAKNESS), lifting, sports (MULTIPLE sports), writing and taking pictures.

I have an urging desire to see the world, live in a city and in the middle of nowhere surround by nature. Become a nurse and an influencer or maybe even a fitness instructor one day. Most importantly follow Christ in everything I do and always have faith that can move mountains.

I WANT IT ALL

(hear me saying this in my best Sharpay Ryan impression)

Anyways, reading that you probably are thinking, “Man… this girl is all over the place….” And you are so right! But are you also thinking about how much you can relate?

If so that leads us right up to this weeks topic:

Being Multi-Passionate

A lot of multi-passionate people come off as ambitious, creative, spontaneous, unique. I once heard someone say, “I am a jack-of-all-traits master of none” and i’ve never been able to relate to a comment more!

Let me just say that there is no shame in being a multi-passionate person because being human is all about pursing the things you love and it’s okay to love more than one thing!

I talked a lot about finding your passion in my post linked here: With Passion or Not at All and even touched a little on finding your balance between being content and striving for more.

Colossians 3:5 “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, PASSION, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”

I put this in my other blog post but it is also a great reminder to read.

God wants us to stop doing the things that distract us from Him or the things that pull us away from Christ himself (the sinful things of the world). We are to serve God faithfully then, leave the results to Him.

My Motto

Balance is something I am constantly striving for because not only am I multi-passionate but I am also a busy body that can sometime pack my schedule so full that I am to the point of overwhelmed and empty (aka sophomore yr of college, Fall semester).

With passion though you need to ask yourself first:

What is MY purpose?

For me personally, my purpose is to live my life Christ-centered remembering the reason that I am here- to spread the ‘good news.’

His good news!

That Jesus has died on the cross to save us from our sins so that we can live eternity in Heaven together, as one.

My purpose each day is to live each day to the fullest and become more like Jesus; a more gentle, loving, good, kind, faithful, self-controlled, and patient human being. And I’ll admit that some days I do better than others but lucky for me no matter how badly I fail there is always grace!

Balance

I have been someone who is multi-passionate for as long as I can remember and let me tell you that I am still learning new things every single  day that are helpful. As for now though I will share with you what I have learned to help me balance all my crazy desires.

If you haven’t decided on a career yet for your life trust me when I say that its kind of a big deal. Like I mentioned above that I still want to be an influencer, traveler, a nurse, a fitness instructor but before I decided on nursing I could have seen myself doing a hundred other things.

When choosing something big in your life sometimes you do need to weigh the pros and cons and see what works best for you.

For me to be a nurse it means I can go literally ANYWHERE in the world (travel), I encounter vulnerable people ever day that I can pour into (aka purpose in life), I basically preach health and fitness (my loves) and I know it will provide me with financial stability to continue doing the other things I enjoy (writing, photographing, certification on being a fitness instructor, ext).

side comment: yes I would love to just be a full-time traveler but lets be honest, the chances I have of making a big career out of that are SLIM hahaha.

Choosing nursing as my career was easy because I knew that I don’t have to die a woman who was ONLY a nurse. Being a nurse is what I want right now but it also doesn’t have to be forever. Remind you that I still have desires to accomplish and enjoy all those things in my lifetime I listed at the beginning of this post but I did have to realize that I’ll have to be patient on some of those things and trust God’s timing.

Proverbs 16:9

A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.

Review:

I know that I talked mainly about choosing a career or a big decision in your life but that was only because that’s where I learned the most when it came to trying to balance my multi-personality.

This doesn’t just relate to people picking a career or a job. It can honestly relate and does relate for me to the decision (small or large) that I make every single day.

Whether it is deciding if I should join another Ultimate Frisbee team, get a part-time job, keep writing. Whatever it may be I go through these steps and determine if it is all something I really want to put my time into, something I really want to B A L A N C E next on my plate.

The Steps:

  1. Your PASSION (life decision) is always in line with your PURPOSE
  2. One thing at a time
    • Remember you don’t have to do everything all at one time, it’s okay to focus on  maybe one big thing and then a few small (maybe more enjoyable) things. If you have a desire to do something but can’t accomplish it right now, keep it! Keep it and make it a priority to accomplish sometime in your life.
  3. Own “it”.
    • Be confident in W H O you are and the talents that God has blessed you with! He gave them to you for a purpose so OWN IT.

Whatever your desire, whatever your passion, God knows. My advice is to stay near to Him and He will help you accomplish everything you wanted but also SO MUCH MORE.

Thank you all for reading.

I have missed you guys and as always it feels good to be back!

until next time

xoxo
